About the Hackathon

The FEG Innovation Hackathon is a two day innovation challenge designed to bring tech builders, startups, and creative thinkers together to tackle real-world digital entertainment problems. Hosted in partnership with T-Hub, the format is deliberately hands-on: teams turn an idea into a working prototype inside two days, with mentors available throughout, and present it live to FEG's product and engineering leadership.

Open to startups, students and independent tech professionals.

Teams with strong solutions may be offered a follow-on engagement to build with FEG after the event.

Session Quality and Session-to-Action Conversion
How might we turn more sessions into confident, informed actions and make every session more valuable to the user without pushing anyone to do more than they want to?

Outcome: more sessions ending in a completed action, more value per active user, and uplift that survives into D30/D90 retention. Out of scope: acquisition and marketing before the session, pricing and commercial terms, registration and identity verification. Baselines shared with shortlisted teams after NDA.
Guardrail
Uplift must come from relevance and reduced friction, never pressure. No dark patterns, no urgency mechanics, nothing conflicting with responsible gambling limits or self-exclusion. Sessions showing harmful-play indicators must not rise. Judged.
Challenge-2:
Native App Experience — Relevance on Every Surface
How might we bring a user's selected interests, teams and activity to every surface of their device, so the experience feels relevant and alive before the app is even opened?

Between sessions we're invisible — and that's exactly when the moments users care about happen.

Live moments are lost — someone following a live event tracks it in a third-party app, not ours.

Broadcast pushes are ignored or disabled, and opt-out is effectively permanent.

You build: a standalone native demo app on real devices with sample data — iOS, Android or both.
Out of scope: production integration, real user data, new-user acquisition. Relevance and convenience, not hyper-personalisation.
Guardrail
OS surfaces are the most personal space we could occupy misuse destroys trust permanently. Quiet hours, frequency caps and GDPR consent respected. Zero inducement pushes to at-risk or self-excluded customers, enforced by design.
Challenge-3:
Game Load Time — 6-8 Seconds to Near-Instant
How might we cut game load time to around 500 milliseconds — so choosing a game feels as fast as scrolling a feed, and trying a new one costs the user nothing?
The problem
>
6-8 seconds from tap to playable, in a product whose core loop is choosing and switching games.
>
Slow loads suppress discovery — users settle into a small familiar set and new content never gets a fair chance.
>
The constraint is structural — games are certified third-party bundles, contractually fixed. The solution space is everything around the game.

Guardrail
Speed must not bypass anything that protects the user - responsible gambling interstitials, reality checks, session limits and age gates stay at full fidelity. Certified packages must not be altered.

Eligibility Criteria

What we look for:
Target Audience: Open to individual developers, innovator teams, startups, university students, and developer networks.
Submission Quality: Applications must directly address the official FEG challenge statements.
Selection Process: Candidates will undergo screening by a joint evaluation committee from T-Hub and FEG based on technical feasibility, alignment, and originality.
On-Site Presence: Shortlisted participants/teams must be available to participate in person at T-Hub, Hyderabad during the 2-day hackathon window.
Ground rules. EU baseline throughout GDPR, ePrivacy, AMLD/KYC, eIDAS 2.0, EU AI Act, EAA/WCAG 2.1 AA plus responsible gambling: no dark patterns, no inducements to vulnerable or self-excluded customers, 18+ respected. Anonymised or sample data only. Ask us anything; real baselines follow after shortlisting and NDA. State every assumption your metric choices are themselves judged. AI-native, gamified and rich UI/UX are welcome, not required.

Who all are eligible to participate?

Startups, tech enthusiasts, working professionals, and students are all eligible to apply and participate in the competition.

Are there specific location preferences?

Contestants from anywhere in India can apply. The event itself will be held in Hyderabad on September 8–9.

Where will the event take place?

The 24-hour hackathon will take place physically at the T-Hub Campus in Hyderabad, India.

What is the cost to participate?

Participation is free for all shortlisted teams and individuals selected through the screening process.

Are travel and accommodation provided?

Participants are responsible for their own travel, personal health, and accommodation arrangements unless specified otherwise.

Will there be assistance during the coding sprint?

Yes, assigned mentors and technical experts will be available to provide guidance, feedback, and office hours during the build phase
