We are anchoring the entire Hyderabad startup ecosystem with a state-of-the-art 70,000 square foot building called CatalysT, the largest building in India to be entirely dedicated to entrepreneurship. Located at the IIIT-H Campus, Gachibowli, the sprawling building will bring the start-up community together.

Mr Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, is the honourable Cabinet Minister for Information Technology and Panchayat Raj, Telangana State, and has been representing Sircilla Assembly Constituency since 2009 for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
After completing his MBA, KTR worked as an IT professional in the US from 2001 to 2006. He moved back to India and joined the TRS, and actively participated in the Telangana movement between 2009 and 2014, where he played a stellar role in ensuring that the issue was represented well at the national level.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology from Nizam College, Hyderabad, an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from University of Pune, and an MBA in Marketing and E-Commerce from Baruch College-City, University of New York, New York.
KTR’s vision is to build Hyderabad into one of the best cities in the world for startups and entrepreneurship activities. Key to this goal is T-Hub, a unique initiative to create a comprehensive ecosystem for technology innovators, initially across an entire city, and then for the whole State of Telangana.
The Government of Telangana has taken the path of “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” to make Telangana the most preferred investment destination in India. As a part of this effort the Government is collaborating with industry and premier educational institutes to set up T-Hub – The largest facility for Innovation & Entrepreneurship in the country.
The Government intends to bank on the strong talent pool in the state to nurture the next generation of Entrepreneurs. To aid tech start-ups that are in need of financial support, the state is planning to set up a $ 100 mn fund. Also, the government has conceptualized and initiated TASK (Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge) to equip graduates with required skills to reach their goals.
Also, the Government of Telangana shall collaborate with Central Government to further propel entrepreneurial activity in the state by providing additional incentives. With excellent infrastructure – both physical and regulatory, financial support, a truly world class city, the Government shall strive towards making Hyderabad the innovation capital of the country.
The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad) is an autonomous private university in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was established in 1997, and is one of the top Computer Science institutes in the country. It emphasizes research from the undergraduate level. It has been a consistent performer from India in ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). Raj Reddy, the only Indian to win the Turing Award, is chairman of the board of governors. Vint Cerf, popularly known as the father of the Internet and also a Turing Awardee, joined the Board of Governors in February, 2015 to guide in IIIT Hyderabad's long term vision and research.
The institute runs Computer Science courses and research projects and is focused on research.
The IIIT-H Foundation, a non-profit sister concern, manages over 30,000 sft of space that consists of a co-working space and Incubator known as the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) on the IIIT-H campus. CIE is one of the largest Incubators in India, and provides capital, networking, mentoring and coaching support to entrepreneurs.
The Indian School of Business (ISB) evolved from the need for a world-class business school in Asia. The school has been consistently ranked high on the global MBA rankings and places high emphasis on hiring top notch faculty from around the world.
With its extensive network ISB has excellent infrastructure for entrepreneurial activities and has produced successful ventures since inception. The school offers various entrepreneurship courses for students and has its own entrepreneurship cell and an incubator to help their student entrepreneurs grow. The Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (WCED) at the ISB was established in 2001 with a view to establish entrepreneurship as a transformational vehicle for the broad-based growth of India and other developing economies. The center aims to enable creation and growth of sustainable and competitive enterprises through innovative research, outreach and pilot initiatives.
NALSAR (National Academy of Legal Studies and Research) is one of the best law schools in the country, located in Shamirpet, Hyderabad. It was established in 1998 as a state university, and it offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs. It is a highly selective institution with excellent infrastructure facilities and it attracts the best minds in the country.
With superior expertise in Legal Studies and associated research, NALSAR will add a great value in helping start-ups with legal and IPR issues. NALSAR will deliver customized courses to these young entrepreneurs and equip them with necessary skills to tackle real world business issues in terms of legal aspects.
Mr. Jayesh Ranjan is a member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and was the All-India topper of the 1992 batch. He is the Secretary, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications Department, Government of Telangana, and Commissioner of Industries. Jayesh has done international consultancy assignments for the World Bank and UN-ESCAP, and international NGOs working for Youth Issues like YES, Inc. of the USA and NMC from Italy. He was awarded World Bank’s Social Capital Visiting Scholarship in 2002 and the British Government’s Gurukul Chevening Scholarship in 2005.
Jayesh holds a degree in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, a Masters Degree in Psychology from Delhi University, and a Masters in Public Management from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. He has also done short courses in the University of Birmingham (on Environmental Policy Analysis), London School of Economics (on Globalization and Leadership), and Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (in Public Policy)
Mr. B.V.R. Mohan Reddy is a visionary who has placed India on the global map for leading-edge engineering research and development (ER&D) services. Having established Cyient (formerly Infotech Enterprises) in 1991, Mohan pioneered computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) solutions serving international clients. Today, with 12,500+ employees across 38 locations worldwide, Cyient is one of the largest independent exporters of high-value R&D services from India.
Mohan was elected as Chairman, NASSCOM in April 2015. This is the first time that an engineering services industry veteran has been selected for this prestigious position. Among other accolades, he has been a frontrunner in reinforcing the “Engineered in India” brand, and providing design engineering services to global companies, including Boeing, Airbus, Pratt & Whitney, Bombardier, Philips, Siemens and Westinghouse. He has been a member of the NASSCOM Executive Council since 2003. Mohan has also served as the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Southern Region (2008-2009), and was also a national council member. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of IIT, Hyderabad. He established the Cyient Foundation (formerly Infotech Enterprises Charitable Trust) 13 years ago. The Cyient Foundation has conceptualized and enabled various social initiatives, including the adoption of 14 government schools across Hyderabad, Kakinada and Noida, supporting more than 10,000 underprivileged children.
Mohan holds a graduate degree in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering, Kakinada, India, and postgraduate degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and the University of Michigan. He has also received an honorary Ph.D. degree from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad; an honorary D. Sc. from the Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam; and Doctor of Science Honoris Causa from KL University (Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation), Vaddesaram.
Mr. CP Gurnani (popularly known as ‘CP’ within his peer group), is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tech Mahindra. CP played a pivotal role in the three-year transformational journey of Mahindra Satyam and spearheaded the company’s eventual merger with Tech Mahindra.
In a career spanning 32 years, he has held several leading positions with HCL, Hewlett Packard Limited, Perot Systems (India) Limited and HCL Corporation Ltd. He is an accomplished business leader with extensive experience in international business development, start-ups and turnarounds, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions.
A chemical engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, he is a distinguished and active alumnus of the Institute. CP has been chosen as the Ernst and Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year [Manager]’, CNBC Asia’s ‘India Business Leader of the Year’ and Dataquest ‘IT person of the Year’ - for the year 2013.
Mr. Sashi Reddi is a successful technology entrepreneur, business leader, and an active angel investor. Sashi runs a seed stage venture fund, SRI Capital, that is typically the first institutional investor in various technology, education, green technology and media start-ups.
Prior to SRI Capital, he was the founder and CEO of AppLabs. His striking qualities include his enthusiasm and passion for entrepreneurship which made him found 4 start-ups in the last 20 years. Sashi serves on the advisory board of Wharton Entrepreneurship, board of Ben Franklin Technology Partners, as well as on the board of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA). He is a charter member of TiE Philadelphia and TiE Hyderabad. He also runs a charitable organization, SRI Trust that supports the educational and overall development needs of 600 children in 3 schools in India.
Sashi received his BTech in Computer Science from the IIT Delhi, an MS in Computer Science from NYU, and later a PhD from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. P.J. Narayanan is a professor and currently the Director of IIIT Hyderabad. Previously he was the Head of Computer Vision and Virtual Reality at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, DRDO, and was previously a Research Faculty Member at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. He was the President of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) India from 2012 to 2014. He is currently one of the Board Members of CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) and enjoys mentoring technology start-ups. He holds a B.Tech (Honours) in Computer Science and Engineering (1984) from IIT, Kharagpur and a Ph.D. in Computer Science (1991) from University of Maryland, College Park.
Prof. (Dr) Faizan Mustafa is the Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. He was the founder Vice-Chancellor of National Law University, Orissa. He has also served as Dean, Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University and Registrar of AMU. He is the Founder Director of KIIT Law School. He is the Advisor to National Law School & Judicial Academy, Assam. He is known for his institution building abilities and democratic leadership. He is also visiting faculty to several reputed institutions in India and abroad. He has visited and lectured in several countries of the world, and earlier served in U.A.E. and Africa.
Prof. Mustafa is a gold medalist in LL.M. from Aligarh Muslim University. He completed his Ph.D. in Copyright Law. He also has a diploma in International and Comparative Human Rights from International Institute of Human Rights, Strasbourg, France.
Mr. V. Raman Kumar is the founder, former Chairman/CEO and Board Director of MModal Inc ( NASDAQ: MODL) – a leading voice recognition, clinical documentation technology & services company.
He founded CBay Systems, subsequently renamed as MModal, in 1998 and took the company from a start-up to become the world’s largest provider of clinical documentation technology solutions to the US healthcare industry. MModal was sold to One Equity Partners ( JP Morgan’s private equity arm) in 2012 for USD 1.1 billion.
Mr. Kumar has won several awards and recognitions for his outstanding contribution to entrepreneurship and business leadership.
He was named Ernst and Young's Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 award winner for Maryland.
He was also honoured with the prestigious Maryland International Business Leadership Award by The World Trade Centre Institute in Baltimore in the same year.
Mr. Kumar did his B.A (Hons.) and M.A from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He attended the School of Organization and Management at Yale University.
He has over 30 years of experience in managing public and private companies; starting his career in the Indian Revenue Service and then shifting to the private sector.
Mr. Kumar is a limited partner in three large international private equity funds. He is also an active private investor investing across sectors, in India, US and the Middle East.
He is currently the chairman and managing director of Aeries group of companies.
Mr. Srini Raju is the Managing Director and Founder of Peepul Capital (formerly, iLabs Capital). Peepul Capital manages over $1000 million of institutional and general partner’s capital across three funds; Peepul Capital has initiated or funded and supported over 40 companies during the past 14 years. Some of these companies have grown into world class organizations. Peepul Capital specializes in transforming professional managers into entrepreneurs.
Before Starting Peepul Capital, Srini Raju was associated with Cognizant Technologies Services and Satyam Enterprise Solution as CEO and Satyam Computer Services as COO.
Mr. Raju has received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with Honors, from REC (NIT), Kurukshetra and a Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Utah State University.

Mr. Rajendra Srivastava is the Dean of the Indian School of Business (ISB) and the Novartis Professor of Marketing strategy and Innovation. He comes with an experience of over 30 years as an academic and administrator. He has held several tenured faculty and administrative positions during his career. Before joining the ISB, he was Provost and Deputy President of Academic Affairs at Singapore Management University.
Mr. Ajit Rangnekar was the Dean, and Member of the Governing Board, of the Indian School of Business (ISB). As the Dean, Rangnekar steers the School’s vision to be among the globally top-ranked, research-driven management institutions.
Before joining ISB, he was the Country Head, first for Price Waterhouse Consulting and then for PwC Consulting, in Hong Kong and the Philippines. He was head of the Telecom and Entertainment Industry Consulting practice for PwC in East Asia (China to Indonesia).
Rangnekar holds an undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, before completing his post-graduation in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
